Chicago is a large city so finding the best music venues can be hard. This list will help save you the headache of finding an awesome place to chill so you can focus on enjoying the music. No matter what kind of music you like there is a place for you to have a good time.
1. Lincoln Hall
Lincoln Hall has a modern feel to it and is located near Sheffield and DePaul. This venue is more expensive than some, but that is because the bands they get are the hot bands of the time. You can see the current bands that are blowing up or the ones that have blown up recently. The music is more on the Indie rock side of things. The food here is also great which is an added bonus because sometimes bar food isn’t the best. This means you can have a nice date night here with dinner and enjoy a live show.
Hideout is a country-rock venue and is extremely affordable. Located in West Town, they have a wide range of beer choices that won’t set you back to much, so it is great for a budget-friendly night out. The bands that play here are smaller local acts, but they still know how to put on a good show. Also, the venue is on the cozy side of things, but that means you are right by the band. If you are more into a DJ running the show, then this place offers that as well and normally the DJ music ranges from Prince to Devo.
Constellation is in a building, located in North Center, which can sometimes be overshadowed by its surroundings, but if you give it a chance and go in you will find a comfortable environment to enjoy your music. If you are a jazz person or contemporary classical, then this is the venue for you. This venue was established by a local drummer, so he knows what goes into making a great venue. There are two stages and the drinks are reasonable priced. This makes for a great night out and if rock music isn’t your thing, then you will probably fit right in here with this type of music.
4. Beat Kitchen
Another venue located in North Center is Beat Kitchen. This venue is a nice corner bar that has a welcoming feel to it from the outside. The bands, however, play in a dingy back room that has a nice intimate feel. Known for being a stepping stone, Beat Kitchen gets local and touring acts that are on the rise. Depending on the night you can find anything from punk to power pop in this venue. Another top feature is the excellent menu of food ranging from different pizzas to lamb.
5. Chicago Theater
A Chicago music venue list wouldn’t feel complete if you didn’t include Chicago Theater on it. This venue is larger seating up to five thousand people and is located at The Loop. Even though it is large it is still fairly cozy on the inside thanks to the historical building. The bands that play here are well known and can be in all categories of music. If you get to see a show here, then it will be a memorable experience.
These are just five of the top venues in Chicago. Since it is such a big city there are plenty more good venues, but this list will help save you time on finding a good place fast. Once you visit some of these places you can get suggestions from locals to discover more fun places to hang out and hear some great music.
